Pensawel Stud
Equine Dentistry

In 2009 Annah Chester completed her training to become an equine dentist. Having grown up with horses right from the start, she is confident at handling all equines already, appointments can be made to visit the stud or for Annah to arrange a home visit within a 40 mile radius of Pengelli (SA19 7LQ).  If you have any queries regarding wolf teeth, rasping, or if your horse is dropping food when he eats, has become overly sensitive to the bit, or developed any unexpected attitude under saddle, it might be worth getting in touch.
Please call Annah on 01558 685920.

Backing and Schooling

Kate, where time permits, takes on horses for backing, schooling / bringing back into work etc.  Obviously there are times of the year when the stud is busier than others, but if you are looking for an experienced and empathetic person to help you get the best out of your horse, you might wish to give her a call.

Pavo

In addition to running a busy stud with horses competing in hand and under saddle, Kate and Meredith are also stockists of Pavo Horse Food. Many of the foodstuffs in the range are readily available as they use much of the Pavo range for their own stock.

Some of the products used by Pensawel include:

Pavo Nature’s Best, a tasty muesli with a low protein, oat and sugar free which is therefore very suitable to “hot” ponies or those susceptible to laminitis.

Pavo Cerevit, one of the latest in the Pavo range, a basic balanced muesli made of 100% natural ingredients. (oat free)

Pavo Condition eXtra, an oat free pelleted feed with increased biotin to promote healthy hooves and shiny coats. Particularly suited to ponies and horses in recreation and light sport.

Pavo Liga is another pelleted feed used by the stud for the very good doers. The vitamin and mineral content is high so that the correct daily nutrition can be given without fear of overdoing the calories.

Following the same principles, Pavo Summerfit / Aura is an actual bricket that can be easily fed to ponies out at pasture that require a daily supplement to meet their vitamin and mineral requirements. Each bricket contains the same amount of vits and mins as an ordinary 2kg feed.

In contrast to the products listed so far, Herbal Melange is an energy rich muesli with a clean vegetable oil included and is used (sparingly!) by the stud leading up to in hand showing, it adds a bit of extra zing to the animals and gives them a healthy bloom of condition prior to showing.

Finally, as a special treat, some of the cobs are lucky enough to be given the Pavo Slobber Mash, mixed with hot water, it gives a tasty and easily digestible treat and is much easier than ruining your best saucepans boiling linseed! (as it already contains this and many more ingredients)

For more info about the range visit the pavo website where you can fill in a simple feed programme which can help advise you of what amounts of forage and dry food your horse or pony requires or if you prefer, please feel free to contact Kate or Meredith for prices and availability. Many of the products are available either by the bag or bulk (where appropriate).

Euroquad

Meredith is a mechanic by trade and has taken on the distribution of Euroquads in his area.  Very keenly priced with the same reliable engines as used in the top priced ATVs, they come with a good period of warranty and of course, Meredith can undertake to service and maintain the quads for you when required.  For photos and prices of the Euroquad range, please visit their website: www.euroquads.co.uk

Spanner for Hire

As well as being an agent for Euroquad, Meredith is also an experienced mechanic, who still gets his hands dirty on a daily basis.  Specialising in Massey Fergusons, he is happy to work on all tractors, plant,  ATVS,  as well as small engines.

Heavy Plant

Equipped with his own digger, Meredith is also able to offer site clearance and various contracting work.  Give him a call to discuss your requirements.

Forage and Straw

Fast becoming a one stop shop for all your horsey requirements, (especially now the equine dentist is trained) the stud does on occasion, have spare forage for sale.  Currently just about run out of surplus 08 wrapped haylage, it may be possible to source hay / haylage for you if you let Meredith know what you are after.

Similarly, if you require straw, it may well be worth putting in a call to let him know what size and quantity you require.

Delivery, within reason, is possible.
