Pensawel Stud
Welcome

Welcome to the Pensawel website.
**Last Update 8th February 2010 - New photos of two yearling fillies added as well as this lovely photo of Penstrumbly Paper Roses taken by Annah Chester.

Meredith, Kate & Annah hope you will enjoy looking at the stud they are building at Pensawel.  They have a real passion for their welsh cobs and enjoy showing in hand as well as under saddle. Having bought some excellent foundation stock for the stud, they are now looking to develop their own prefix and as a result  are now offering some very nicely bred animals for sale.

Stud Ethos

Kate Chester has had a life long involvement with horses and has been riding from an early age.  She has also had the benefit of working at a busy stud for many years prior to starting her own stud with her partner Meredith near Llansawel.  Kate treats each welsh cob as an individual, allowing development at a pace that suits the animal.

The stock are fed on home grown haylage supplemented with the PAVO ® range which she thoroughly advocates: the proof of the food shows in the condition of the animals at the stud. Kate's daughter Annah looks set to follow in her mothers footsteps being quite at ease showing under saddle or in hand, with a professional but empathetic style of handling winning her numerous prizes with  Penstrumbly Paper Roses in hand in 2009.  (photo to the right features Kate & Annah on Penstrumbly Paper Roses & Abergavenny Tlws)

All the stock at Pensawel are well handled, routinely farriered and wormed and the stallions benefit from plenty of turnout when the covering and showing season is over.  There is currently an all weather arena and generously proportioned stables laid out within a large barn complex.  An indoor school will be under construction soon.
